Neurology
An analysis of the Global Burden of Disease 2021 study suggests that 1 in 2 Americans has a disease affecting the nervous system, with stroke, Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, diabetic neuropathy, and migraine causing the greatest amount of disability. Over half of rare diseases are believed to have a neurological component. As many neurologic diseases are progressive and are associated with significant disability, researchers are looking to address unmet needs around disease-modifying therapies, early and accurate diagnosis, and equitable access to care.
